Green is the new black. Ok, I know that’s a little cliché, but “going green” is not only the right thing to do, it’s also becoming the “IN” thing to do. Whether you are already an avid environmentally conscious individual, or you just like things that are a little more unique and are glad to help the environment when you can, this is a great book by Dave Evans to help you find Cool Green Stuff along the way.

Having a dinner party and need some edgy decor? Maybe you just need to add a little something to you kitchen? Here’s a great idea from The Spoon Sisters. The Swiss Cheese Candle ($16), made from bees wax and is so realistic, it looks like a real block of cheese! But if the candle doesn’t seem to be enough for you, there are also Olive and Wine Cork Candles to go along with your theme. Next time you have a dinner party make sure that before you announce, “Bon Apetit!”, you warn them that the candle and not part of the cheese tray!

Reduce Renew Recycle with Beau Soleil from designer Anne Salvatore Epstein. The company’s focus is on fair trade and labor, as well as organic raw materials while offering consumers environmentally healthy clothing choices without sacrificing fashion. Beau Soliel uses fabric made out of bamboo, vegetable-dyed organic cottons and vintage, tencel, which is made from eucalyptus tress, as well as recycled leather trims.
I especially liked this Reduce Recycle Renew Bag from Beau Soleil. This is an affordable ($40) eco-friendly bag that will help to encourage people to help the enviroment without breaking the bank. So go ahead, carry those groceries in style! Beau Soleil

Ok, Vegans want to look good too, but they don’t want to kill a helpless baby seal or other innocent creature to do it. Frankly neither do I if I can help it! Matt & Nat has great vegan handbags that aren’t just made of straw or hemp- they’re made of very fine synthetic leathers, and other materials that come from the earth- and they look like very high-quality genuine leather!I checked out this site, and looked at a few great handbags that I wouldn’t mind having. Whether you’re Vegan, or just want to score a hot new bag, this is a good site to visit. The animals will thank you. (Shown above: Strangelove large - $110, Strangelove small - $90)

This modern New York designer has everything from bedding to wall flats that are both fresh and affordable. I really thought the embossed wall flats were interesting. They were voted Eco-Friendly Product of the Year by Interior Design Magazine. You can even order samples of each tile online so that you can see them before you buy them. Purses made from Candy wrappers, old billboards, and even pull tabs from pop cans. I found this company ecoist.com that makes handbags and other accessories from recycled materials. I was amazed to see what this company is doing with recycled stuff. These purses are super-unique looking, and they’re all handmade. They don’t come as cheap as you’d think something made out of old candy wrappers would, but it’s for a good cause, and good fashion. Purses made from recycled materials gives a whole new meaning to vintage fashion.
From Ecoist: “We believe that style comes first. When designing our accessories, it is our basic assumption that no consumer will purchase our products because we are on the mission to save the Earth. Rather, people will buy what looks good on them, or what’s hot, or what celebrities are wearing. However, by promoting our brand, we hope to enhance the planet, elevate consumer consciousness, and transmit our values, not just our sense of style.”
