‘Cazals’ is Fresh Sound From Across Pond

January 3rd, 2008 by Deej

The UK based Cazals are a treat for the ear. It’s just plain nice. French label Kitsuné, usually stuck on electronica, convinced them to record their debut album in Paris, due sometime this year. They’ve released a killer energizing single ‘To Cut a Long Story Short’ (video is on MTV2) that I must recommend you hear. Hear more of the Cazals + make new friends.

Sofia Coppola & Andrew Durham’s Top 11 of 2007

December 25th, 2007 by Deej

Sofia Coppola & Andrew Durham’s Top 11 of 2007 is a quick and to the point list of the best in art, film, music, and more. This is for those drooling for more than the typically dry predictable ‘best of’ lists that pop-up around this time of year.  Thank you.

Posted by V Magazine, two 0f my (and maybe your) favorites made this particular list: David Lynch’s first feature film in five years, Inland Empire - and of course, the iPhone (not failing to soak up as much press coverage as possible).  Another great pick from this list is The Dan Flavin retrospective; minimalism at it’s fluorescent best. Enjoy the rest of the list here.

Have Music Monitor Your Work Out

The Nike+ Armband can do just that. You simply slide your iPod nano into the armband start your workout. With it, you not only listen to music, it monitors how far you go and other aspects of your workout. While listening to your favorite songs, the Nike+ Armband comes in and reminds you of how well you’re doing. A great encouragement to a pain in the butt workout if you ask me.The Nike+ Armband ($29.00) comes in black, blue, and red.

What Is The Sound of Starbucks?

June 28th, 2007 by AlanaBee

picture-10.pngSick of your music? Feel like you’ve been listening to the same ol’ stuff all of the time? Whenever I feel like I need a new hip sound in my ear I can always turn to Starbucks Entertainment to help me find the right thing.

I was sitting at Starbucks today on my laptop being bored and sick of my music, so I took a peak at it online, and found some pretty cool stuff - like the new White Stripes album “Icky Thump” or Ryan Adams’ “Easy Tiger”. They also have some hot mixed CD’s like “Summertime Groove”, which has various artists like Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding… a euphoria of summertime sounds, seriously. Next time you feel like you need to update your music collection, you’ll know where to turn. hearmusic
